Back Home

Dad: Picking Apples
Last weekend we were able to visit family in Idaho. Noell picked me up on Thursday from work, with Myranda and Tanner. We had terrible traffic through Salt Lake (evidently others believed it would be a great idea to get out of the area the same time we did.

We stopped to drop some barrels (excess empty food barrels from the Lindon Cannery) off at Clark's home. We visited for quite some time as I rode with him to pick up several of his children.

In The Cave
We enjoyed the visit, then went to my parent's home. We arrived late (after 10:00 and Dad was still awake). We visited a bit with Dad, before he went to bed. At about 1:00 I decided it was too late, and I went to bed. Noell and Mom then visited until after 4:00 am.

This Looked Like a Door in the Cave
Friday morning I helped Dad pick some of the apples in his trees. We discovered that Derek and Ofelia had brought their family to Idaho Falls. We met them and Becky's family on Friday afternoon and took them through 13 (or 17 mile cave). FYI: the cave is named for the distance from a certain point in town, not the length of the cave.

While I was still amazed with the size and length of the lava tube cave, it wasn't as exciting as I remembered it to be. Evidently 10 years can effect my memory. Also, the graffiti in the cave was quite excessive. With all that, I still enjoyed the amazing cave The Lord had provided for us to visit.
The Mouth of the Cave

We enjoyed a dinner at Costa Vida with the Nelson and Arnold families. After dinner we visited with Dean and Michelle for several hours. We returned to Dad & Mom's after 1 am.

Saturday we got up early and rushed with Clara, Martha, Myranda, and Tanner to the county jail to visit Tyler. It was so nice to visit with him and see how well he is doing. He expects to be transferred to Coure D' Lane, Idaho for a nine month recovery program that they hope will help him recover from his Meth addiction.

At the Swimming Pool - Lifeguards Photo-Bombing
After some quick shopping, we then returned to Dad & Mom's to watch Kaneesha's soccer game. We were disappointed to find that the game was not being broadcast. Instead, we visited and I cut Dad's hair, trimmed Mom's hair, and Noell cut my hair. Sorine came with a roommate and recorded Mom as she told family history stories. Grandma Veibell were also there with Joyce and Julie (Mom's sisters). They provided additional insights to the stories and memories.

From Idaho with Love (a heart-shaped potato)
Saturday night, we took Colton & Ryan, Clara, Jacob, Martha, Sarah, Hyrum, and Emma with Myranda and Tanner to the swimming pool. While Noell and I waited for the swimmers, we visited with Kaneesha on the phone and helped her with a paper for college.

We picked up Pizza from 5 Buck Pizza and enjoyed the evening. After visiting until about 11:30, we remembered that we wanted to have Myranda and Clara play some songs together (Clara on the piano and Myranda on the Cello). They played some songs from Les Miserables. It was so beautiful to hear them play together.

Sunday we drove to Malad to attend MaryLynn and Dick Spahr's mission report. It was so nice to visit with them again and to see some of their family. This mission they served in Botswana (North of South Africa) where most of the members have only been in the church since 2010. They had some great experiences.

It was nice to return home to Idaho and then return home to Payson.
