Keyboard Shift

Image
This week the shift keys on my Bluetooth iPad keyboard stopped working. I got online and discovered that an update caused trouble with the shift keys for a number of people. I tried all the suggestions that they had and was unsuccessful. After all that, I tried the Bluetooth keyboard I use for my computer. The computer keyboard worked just great on my iPad. I then decided to try one of my two old keyboards where the stand that held the iPad had broken. That keyboard worked just fine. I then took the old keyboard from my old iPad case and replaced the newer (broken) keyboard on my newer iPad case. It works great and I think it looks OK. Noell gives me a hard time when I do some of these repairs, instead of just buying a new iPad case. I was excited because it took me about the same amount of time as I would have spent researching and buying a new keyboard and I didn’t spend any money. Even more importantly, one of the things that brings me the greatest joy in this life is to fix or ma...

Stressed... Not Me!

I feel things were going fine in my life. I’ve been making some good changes and am beginning to recognize how God is helping me and working through me. During the past few weeks of working from home (due to COVID-19) my life began to change. I had to adjust to my work schedule, which became much more busy (because I work in welfare and self-reliance). Not only did my workload increase, but the things happening at home also needed more attention. My son, who’s home from school needed more attention and direction. My infant twins seemed to fuss and I felt I needed to help them. My children who are outside the home seemed to need increased attention. Even my amazing wife and parents needed more attention. Through all of this, I tried to do it ALL. You might guess, this led to an emergency room visit because of a searing stomach pain (see blog post "Kaneesha's Visit and Strength." After numerous tests, they said my heart and body is healthy, my problem was gastritis (a ver...

Kaneesha’s Visit and Strength

4/10/2020 On Wednesday night, Kaneesha surprised us and came to visit. Well, she’d visited with Noell about it, but it was a great surprise to me. As I was nearing the end of my work day, around 7PM, I heard Kaneesha’s voice in the adjoining room. Her voice was much more clear than I normally hear when Noell talks with her on the phone, Marco Polo app, or FaceTime. I hoped she was here, but wasn’t sure until the meeting ended and I could come out of my office. It was so great to see her again. It had been a long while since I’d seen her and with the Coronavirus, I didn’t feel comfortable going to visit her. We visited, ate dinner, and played games until after midnight, to celebrate the arrival of her birthday. On Thursday morning I went about my day, and carried out my work. As 5PM arrived, I was excited to spend some more time with Kaneesha. The day was the most beautiful and warm that we’ve had all week. I suggested that we go for a motorcycle ride. We loaded Tate into a belly pa...

Letter to Myranda - 3/23/2020

3/23/2020 Myranda, It was so great to visit with you today. What an amazingly difficult time to serve as a missionary. Thank you for sharing your frustrations, your excitement, and your day-to-day thoughts. I love your mission president and his wife’s comments. I’m so glad to know that they understand you and seem to have such love for you already. Recently, I finished listening to The Saints Volume 2. It was great to learn more of the Church’s history after arriving in Salt Lake. After it ended, I wondered what I should listen to next. I found several things and even tried them but they didn’t feel right. Then, I noticed the book Daughters in My Kingdom: The History and Work of the Relief Society. I’m in chapter 5 of the book now. When I was listening to it this morning, I was impressed by a story: A sister in Tooele, Utah, learned that a quilt she made had offered relief to a British family during the war. This Relief Society sister had made the quilt in 1906, tucked a note in...

3/1/2020 Myranda, Began writing and Tate needed held... delayed. Began writing and needed to reply to a text from a single sister Tanner and I minister to. Above Church Office Observe Deck Began writing and Dad came in and said, “If you’ve got some bread, I’d take a slice." I bumped, then dropped the butter container lid - it broke (the container is one Tim made in a pottery class at Ricks College). I’ll decide later whether to throw it away or glue it back together again. Last time the bottom broke, this time it’s the top... Is it a matching set, or a piece destined for the junkyard? Here are a few things from the week: Monday night I spent the time working on the closet across from the Dad & Mom’s bedroom, it’s getting more ready to become a laundry room. Tuesday was a full day of work, arrived home around 9pm. Conference Center Radio tower top of COB Wednesday I spent time in the morning with my brother, Clint and Garrett from Deseret Industries di...

Return from Kansas

2/9/2020 Liberty Jail Last week I was in Kansas City with my supervisor and co-workers from the Central Area. It was a great training meeting and I felt blessed by being there. Kansas City Temple We also had the opportunity to do some special things. We visited Liberty Jail, the Independence Visitor’s Center, Far West, and Adam-ondi-Ahman. I love seeing those Church history sites and learning more about the great people who helped bring the Church back to the earth. It’s also amazing to learn more about what the Lord plans for the future. Adam-ondi-Ahman It’s still my dream to take the family to Kansas City area and then to Nauvoo. Hopefully we can do that when Myranda returns. Bulls Eye! = 5 Points For fun, one evening, we threw axes. Early in my married live I threw some hand-made axes with scouts, but this was something else. The area was designed for safety and the axes were purchased instead of hand made. The floor was marked (to throw from the same spot eac...
