First Snow of the Season

Tanner's creative photography
Today, as we were in Sacrament Meeting, Noell pointed out that it was snowing. By the end of church we had a couple of inches of snow on the car.

When we got home Tanner and I quickly shoveled the snow off the sidewalks to make it safer for the young men collecting Fast Offerings. The snowflakes were so large that the sidewalk was covered again by the time we finished.

Tanner took some nice photos of the snow for you to enjoy.

On Monday, Noell and my mother flew to Virginia to visit Kaneesha. They faced 18 hours of flights and layovers before arriving. Kaneesha knew Noell was going, but didn't realize that her grandmother would also be there. It was a great surprise. They returned on Friday.

Myranda, Tanner and I tried to survive without Mom in the home. I left for work at 5:30 each morning and Myranda got up on her own and made sure Tanner was up before she left. They made it to school every day without any problem. They are some great children.

On Tuesday night Myranda, Tanner, and I picked out a birthday gift for Noell. Our dishwasher has broken a number of times recently and I've been able to repair it. Currently it is sounding like it won't last much longer and I'm unable to fix the problem. It is also quite rusted inside and dishes are coming out caked in rust flakes. As a surprise for Noell, we were able to find a dishwasher on sale that should help us cut back on our iron intake. I took Noell on Friday night to see it and she approved.

Wednesday night Noell texted me to inform me that some of Kaneesha's soccer friends were doing a spook alley again this year (as a fundraiser for the soccer club). Noell suggested we have Myranda and Tanner invite their friends to go with (they have a child's level spook alley and a more advanced spook alley). Myranda quickly texted Aubrey Schmidt who agreed to go. Tanner had to ask several friends and do some convincing before he found Tyler Page was brave enough to go.

As we drove to the spook alley I said, "I'm not going in that crazy place. You'll have to go by yourselves." Myranda and Aubrey decided to go through the less-scary spook alley with Tyler and Tanner. As they came out, they couldn't stop sharing their favorite parts. Each of them were surprised (scared) by something and they had a great time. We then went to McDonald's for a sundae.

On Halloween we met many of the ward members for a quick dinner before treats. It was nice to see our friends, meet some new neighbors and meet some non-members. Tanner then went with McKenna Wright's family and Myranda went with Aubrey Schmidt and some other friends. They all had a great time trick-or-treating. Noell and I spent the evening sitting on the porch handing out candy. We felt it would be easier to have Blu on a leash outside than to have to fight him each time someone rang the doorbell.

Snowfall in the hollow & our peach tree
We learned yesterday that Myranda has been selected to play on the Shooters Soccer Club. She is excited.

Also, in yesterday's beautiful weather I was able to transplant our peach tree from the garden to the yard.  A few years ago the children planted a peach pit in the garden and kept watering it. The pit grew and this year became quite a peach tree. Hopefully the tree not only survives, but bares fruit.
