Christmas, New-Year, & Birthday

Christmas was fun this year. Having Kaneesha back and Tanner's excitement for Santa and his gifts made it extra special. More than anything, Tanner wanted to get a Blue Dragon B-Daman. Santa got one for him and Kaneesha purchased a white one for him. He spent all Christmas Day playing with them. Since Christmas, he has also spent as much time as possible playing with them. As an excited father, I forgot to take any photos on Christmas Day.

Unwrapping gifts at Goodworth family party
After Christmas we spent a good time visiting family in Idaho. It was so fun to spend time with parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and even great nieces/nephews. As we were in Idaho, Myranda said, "We need to buy a cello to keep in Idaho." We currently have a cello we keep at school, and a cello we keep for her at home. I would also love for her to have one in Idaho, so she can play when she feels like it (it's fun to play for cousins and grandparents).

Deer in neighbors' yard
The other day I saw six deer in our yard eating. Evidently they were preparing for the coming storm. By the time I was able to get the camera out, most of them had moved into the neighbor's yard.
Noell setting her team member

Noell had a break from volleyball games during the holidays (although she really liked her new volleyball and equipment that Cherilynn gave her for christmas). Tonight she will be playing on two different teams, and therefore will be playing four different games. On nights like this, I believe that she is a glutton for punishment.

New bed for Kaneesha's apartment
In December, during the last few days of school at Southern Virginia, Kaneesha decided she wanted to attend Utah State University. After discussing it with us, she registered that night and was accepted during the holidays. We're excited to have her closer. It wasn't easy getting registered for classes and selecting an apartment, and everything else necessary before classes began. She only had a few hours to look at apartments and I believe that she made an excellent decision. She seems to be getting along great with her roommates. One night they stayed up discussing the Church until 5:30 am. She also went with her roommates, to her roommate Dusty's friend's mission farewell. Everyone also says the ward Kaneesha attends is excellent.
Kaneesha fixing baby grand piano

When Kaneesha decided to come back to Utah, she also decided to have me purchase a baby grand piano and fix it up with her. We spent some time over the holidays working on it. It's now in our basement. Hopefully we'll get some time to work on it when she visits, or even during the summer.

At school, Myranda chose to do her 30 hour project on cameras, their history, and more. To make the research fun, we decided to take her to meet Grandma Goodworth at Grandma Veibell's home. While we were there, we we saw three different Polaroid cameras, a 35 mm camera, and a Brownie Box camera built by Kodak that is roughly 90 years old. It was so fun to see the cameras, talk about them, see some photos taken by them, and even bring them home with us. Myranda is anxious to visit Ken's friend, Lynn (if it is possible) to see his old cameras and learn more about them. Noell claims I'm almost as excited about this project as Myranda is (and she's excited).

While we were in Cache Valley, visiting with Grandma about the cameras, we visited Kaneesha. We took her some cookie dough from Tyson and Laura, some piano books from home, some other things she wanted, and a piano (different than the baby grand discussed above). Her roommates told us they would love to have a piano in the apartment. We purchased the 30 year-old piano from a family in Payson for $200. Although the piano needed some work and needed to be brought up to pitch and tuned, it looks nearly brand new, plays well, and has a lot of life left in it.

Probably the most exciting thing that has happened for me lately, happened on my birthday. For several months I've felt that I needed to avoid commuting to Salt Lake again (the closing of the Lindon Cannery and the merger with the Murray Cannery  were forcing me to commute to Murray). On my birthday I received notification that I obtained a new position at the Springville Employment Center, just 15 miles from home.
