Triathlete
A few days later he stated, "I'm going to do the triathlon this year."
Payson High School does a mini triathlon each year. Tanner is a 7th grader and competes against 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. Most of the students form teams of three to do the triathlon together (one swims, another bikes, and another runs). Tanner decided to do the entire triathlon by himself. The swim section is 125 meters, followed by four miles of bicycling, and ending with a 1.3 mile run.
While I've had many worries, Tanner's only concern has been that he didn't want to be the last person to cross the finish line. During recent weeks, Tanner has been riding his bike up and down hills. He even spent some time swimming.
Today he competed and finished in 10th place of about 30 entries (remember, most of them were teams with each competitor doing only part of the race). He finished in 40 minutes and 41 seconds. He hardly seemed winded and not long after the race was happy to go on a walk with me to get pizza at Little Caesar's. He even wants me to take him to play tennis tonight. What an amazing athlete!!!
