Happy Valentine’s Day
I thought this was published on 3/22/21. For some reason it doesn't appear to have been published.
This week I had several good experiences. Kaneesha and I have been working to get an Instagram following to sell my books, when they’re illustrated. To help us, I connected with a group of graduating BYU-I business students. They gave us some great advice and are putting together a simple website for us and finalizing some suggestions for us. They have been a great group of consultants. They’re from all over the world: South Africa, Ethiopia, Maryland, Hawaii, and Canada, the other two are on campus. Half of them are older than traditional students and one has been a business consultant for years and finally decided to get a degree. I’m grateful for what we’ve learned already and look forward to our final meeting on Tuesday.
Back in November, they notified my co-workers and I that donations that have coming directly from the Bishop’s Storehouse will be taken on and supported more directly through the stakes and I’ll be involved with them. They’ve been preparing us for this change. Well, this week the Bishop’s Storehouse in Pocatello, Twin Falls, Burley, and Montpelier were informed of the change through a poorly, and incorrectly worded email message. The Pocatello Storehouse was especially offended with the email. I had additional documentation and was able to calm them down and as we left they were excited about the plans we developed. I visited with two other storehouses that I support, and things are going much better.
Tanner’s young men’s group from the ward has been planning a ski trip. Tanner had never skied, so I took Stailey and Tanner skiing on Friday. It wasn’t Stailey’s favorite adventure, and Tanner really enjoyed it. He’s looking forward to skiing this Tuesday night. He wishes it would be a longer time skiing that night, since they’ll leave after school.
Also, last night was a girl’s choice Valentine’s dance. The school couldn’t sponsor a dance (because of Covid-19) so the school’s student body presidency sponsored the dance. They couldn’t hold it at the school, so they held it at the red barn. Tanner went with Hannah Jensen, Martha and Sarah’s friend. He even made her corsage and she made his boutonniere. In the afternoon they played some games and did some pre-dance activities. Tanner said they were the best he’s been to yet. They had a great time together at the dance. Becky made their dinner and I’m certain they had a great time there. I was worried because it was a windy, snowy night, but they all arrived safely home.
After they picked up Tanner for the dance, Tate and Dawson were in bed, so Noell and I went to drop off some treats to some neighbors. After that, we went to dinner. It was late, but by then we were very hungry. I’d been worried that we wouldn’t get our date this Valentine’s weekend, so I was very glad that we were able to arrange the dinner and the chance to visit. I especially enjoyed our time together.
