Secret Combinationns
Another stomach attack occurred this Wednesday evening. As soon as it happened, I asked Noell to take me to the hospital. They did some tests then sent us home that night. We returned at 7:30 AM to do an ultrasound. It turns out that I had gallbladder attacks. It’s so nice to know what the problem is. On Monday I find out what my doctor suggests.
Each week I study Come Follow Me and sometimes I have some special experiences. This week I had one that was special to me — although it may not come to you in the same way it impressed me. Here it is:
In Ether there are five chapters that briefly list 28 generations of kings. Some were wicked, others righteous, and a few it doesn’t say. A list of kings isn’t fun for me, so typically my attention fades and I quickly skim the chapters.
Chapters 8 & 9 tell the story of King Omer. His son, Jared was wicked and tried to take over his kingdom. Jared’s daughter leads him to secret combinations—which the scriptures tell us will bring to pass the destruction of a people. I noticed that it happened. In a few short years, the entire civilization (except King Omer, his family, and 30 others) was wiped off the face of the earth.
I knew that generations later this people were completely destroyed because of secret combinations and that the Nephites were also destroyed because of secret combinations. The thing that surprised me was that King Omer also witnessed the destruction of nearly all his people, in just a few short years, because of secret combinations. The Lord warns us of secret combinations and tells us to prevent them in our day (Ether 8:24-26).
Sometimes Tate and Dawson are so cute together. I love this video and thought you might enjoy it.

24 Wherefore, the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you...
25 For it cometh to pass that whoso buildeth it up seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil...
26 Wherefore, I, Moroni, am commanded to write these things that evil may be done away, and that the time may come that Satan may have no power upon the hearts of the children of men, but that they may be persuaded to do good continually, that they may come unto the fountain of all righteousness and be saved.
Also, here’s another video, where the weather was nice enough to play outside on the swings. Sorry to say that as we walked to the swing, I was trying to keep Maya playing fetch and watch that each of the twins didn’t swallow a leaf. Before I noticed, Tate had found a moist deposit that Maya had left on the ground. After wiping his hand on the grass, I then rushed him in to get a wipe to clean his hand. Beyond that, we had a great time outside.
The sun was setting and I loved the colors of the sun shining on the ditchbank contrasted with the green grass and dark, stormy sky. By the time I thought to take the photo, the sun had dropped and the contrasts weren't as breathtaking.
