A Needed Day of Rest!
Last night we spent some time with our good friends, the Harrison family. Since moving to Blackfoot, we’ve enjoyed getting to know them better.
Earlier in the evening we dropped off some pep band music that Tanner had been asked to give to Hailey Harrison. As Noell dropped off the music, they invited us to return later for homemade donuts. Tough, but we decided to oblige 😁.
We enjoyed the fresh donuts, and I especially enjoyed the visit. Carla’s old mission companion was also there (Carla served in Brasilia and her companion is from Porta Alegre, Brasil). I enjoyed visiting with Carla’s companion and husband. I love the people in Brazil and hope to spend more time in Brasil again, someday.
All the Harrison children love to hold and play with Tate and Dawson. One of them was balancing Dawson, as he stood by the couch, chewing on a piece of PVC. Dawson then fell forward and the PVC cut the roof of his mouth and he began bleeding and screaming.
When we returned home, we tried to put the twins to bed, but Dawson couldn’t drink his habitual bottle of milk that puts him to sleep. Noell spent the night holding Dawson. She managed to get some sleep during the restless night.
The night before had been very short for me. I awoke at 3AM and was unable to get to sleep again. So, last night, I slept like a rock (didn’t wake until 8AM).
When I awoke, both Tate and Dawson were awake, and so was Noell. At Noell’s suggestion, I tried feeding Dawson some baby cereal. He ate some, along with puréed baby food. I then gave him a graham cracker, which he chomped down. He ate nearly everything I gave him. When I noticed he was thirsty, I gave him water from a little cup (the nipple on the bottle agitated his sore mouth).
Noell had gone back to bed, and I noticed that Dad was awake and Mom looked tired, so I offered to take Dad for a car ride with the twins. We drove around for over 1 1/2 hours, until Dad needed to return to the bathroom. The twins slept for most of the drive.
We then held a sacrament meeting and I gave a lesson for the family. We enjoyed chicken rolls for dinner. After dinner, I held Tate and we fell asleep together. I woke when Dawson was standing next to me, reaching for the bottle. I put Tate in bed and then wrapped Dawson in a blanket and tried to get him to sleep.
This time, he was able to drink a couple ounces from the bottle. After a lot of squirming, and softly rubbing his face, arms, and hands, he finally fell asleep. Hopefully he’ll sleep like a rock. He definitely needs his rest. Noell is also asleep.

Some fun little videos around our home:
Dawson is crawling on his hands and knees
(the army crawl is coming to an end)
Mom has been sorting through and cleaning up many boxes
Dad is packing items for his trip home. Dad always talks about going home.
He especially likes to package and tape items.
This is a hand towel, wrapped in a hanging file folder,
with paper wrapped around that, and taped shut.
Dad believes the hand towel is one his brother Richard made.
There are some things that are very special to Dad. He takes great care wrapping them.
